ETC project partners at the European Energy Transition Conference!

Within the framework of the European Energy Transition Conference (Assises Européennes de la Transition Energétique) which took place from 31 May to 2 June 2022 in Geneva and which gathered more than 4000 people, geothermal energy and in particular the Caribbean Centre of Excellence on Geothermal Energy (CECG) were highlighted during the plenary session #11 “GEOTHERMAL ENERGY AND TERRITORIES: HOW CAN QUALITY PROJECTS EMERGE?

The purpose of this plenary is to take a cross-sectional look at geothermal support policies in Switzerland and France. In addition to the legislative and regulatory framework specific to the two countries, the different types of geothermal energy and their possible support were discussed.

On stage, exchanges took place between :

  • Nathalie ANDENMATTEN, President of the association Géothermie-Suisse
  • Fabrice BOISSIER, Deputy Director General of ADEME
  • Jean-Jacques GRAFF, President of the AFPG (French Association of Geothermal Professionals)
  • Nicole LUPI, Geothermal specialist, Swiss Federal Office of Energy
  • Sylvie VANOUKIA, President of the Energy Commission of the Regional Council of Guadeloupe, represented in duplex by Mr Julien LAFFONT, Director of Water and Energy of the Regional Council of Guadeloupe.

The example of the geothermal power plant in Bouillante (Guadeloupe), located in the downtown, was cited several times to evoke the subjects of acceptability and social and environmental integration.
