The CARIBBEAN INTERREG programme for Energy Transition in the Caribbean (TEC) looks set to make geothermal energy a reality following the kick-off meeting of the steering committee of the Caribbean Centre of Excellence on Geothermal Energy (CECG).
On 9 March 2022 Sylvie Vanoukia, president of the Guadeloupe Regional Council’s energy committee, had the pleasure of opening the first meeting of the steering committee of the Caribbean Centre of Excellence on Geothermal Energy.

Launch of workshops for the operational implementation of the Caribbean Centre of Excellence on Geothermal Energy
Under the « Regional Development of Geothermal Energy » component of the INTERREG ETC, ADEME et its partners are drawing up a a roadmap for the operational implementation of the Caribbean Centre of Excellence in Geothermal Energy.
ETC project team at the Geothermal Days
The Geothermal Days (Journées de la géothermie), organised by the French Association of Geothermal Professionals (AFPG), took place on 9 and 10 June 2022 in Aix-les-Bains, France and brought together more than 300 people. The event highlighted islands, and in particular Guadeloupe, with its power plant and its future Caribbean Centre of Excellence on Geothermal Energy (CECG).
ETC project partners at the European Energy Transition Conference!
Within the framework of the European Energy Transition Conference (Assises Européennes de la Transition Energétique) which took place from 31 May to 2 June 2022 in Geneva and which gathered more than 4000 people, geothermal energy and in particular the Caribbean Centre of Excellence on Geothermal Energy (CECG) were highlighted during the plenary session #11 “GEOTHERMAL ENERGY AND TERRITORIES: HOW CAN QUALITY PROJECTS EMERGE?

On 8 July 2022, the members of the steering committee approved the legal status of the Caribbean Centre of Excellence on Geothermal Energy.
